The NumberSense Companion Series consists of the following materials:
Grades R-3
Companion Teacher Guides
The Teacher Guides for Grades R to 3 detail the structure and intention of each activity and provide guidelines for successful implementation.
Companion Activity Resources
The Grade R to 3 Companion Teacher Guides assume that teachers have the following resources in their classrooms:
- NumberSense Attribute Blocks (60 different blocks per set)
- NumberSense Connecting Cubes (100 connecting cubes per set)
- NumberSense Tangram Puzzles (class set – 10 puzzles – or single puzzle)
- NumberSense Mosaic Puzzles (class set – 10 puzzles – or single puzzle)
- GeoGenius Construction Kit – needed in Grades 4 to 7 as well
- GeoGenius Visualisation Kit – needed in Grades 4 to 7 as well
Companion Activity Cards
The Grade R to 3 Companion Teacher Guides assume that teachers have activity cards that structure the activities with the resources. The following activity cards are available:
- NumberSense Time Activity Cards (event cards, digital time cards, analogue time cards and word cards)
- NumberSense Attribute Blocks Activity Cards
- NumberSense GeoGenius Construction Kit Activity Cards
- NumberSense Tangram Puzzle Activity Cards

The NumberSense Companion Activity Cards and Resources support the activities described in the Companion Teacher Guide and may be purchased individually or as classroom sets.
Companion Activity Kits
The NumberSense Activity Kit contains one set of each of the activity cards. The Activity Kit can also be purchased as a part of a classroom set, which includes the activity cards as well as the corresponding NumberSense Companion resources.
Grades 4- 7
Companion Workbooks
Four activity-based workbooks in the spirit of the NumberSense Workbooks that address measurement, space and shape (geometry) and data handling. These 64-page workbooks complement and complete the NumberSense Mathematics Programme offering for the Intermediate Phase and Grade 7.
Companion Teacher Guides
The Intermediate Phase Companion Teacher Guides provide page by page detail to the teacher which supports the effective implementation of each activity (page), including answers where applicable.

The following sample pages for the Companion Workbooks for Grades 4 to 7, are available to give you a sense of the nature of the Companion activities. The Companion activities do not assume differentiated teaching and it is therefore anticipated that children will be working in their grade appropriate Companion Workbook.
