    Aarnout Brombacher, along with a panel of experts, gives input on the Mathematics crisis in South Africa.

    According to Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study, South Africa is almost dead last among 48 countries in terms of its mathematics and science education. Despite the low score, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says the study shows that South Africa has made the biggest improvement of any education system in the world since participating in the study. On the Forum@8 this morning we look at how South Africa can improve results in Mathematics and Science. Sakina chats to Dr Mark Chetty, Acting Director for National Assessments at the Department of Basic Education, Aarnout Brombacher who is Founder of Brombacher and Associates which specialises in teacher training, materials development and research in the field of mathematics education and Dr Vijay Reddy, Principal Investigator of TIMSS 2015 grade 5 study and Executive Director at the Human Sciences Research Council.
