Each conference starts with lunch on Friday at 12:30 and ends on the Saturday with lunch at 14:00. On Friday evening there will be a networking session with snacks, drinks and entertainment. The conference sessions run in parallel and include workshops, panel discussions and plenaries.
Among the topics addressed in each of the conference(s):
- Teaching and learning mathematics in the context of AI.
- Concept development journeys (trajectories) in the NumberSense Mathematics Programme for Grades R to 4 and for Grades 3 to 7 for:
- Patterns and patterning (algebraic reasoning).
- 2D and 3D Geometry (geometric reasoning).
- Measurement.
- Developing and using extension activities for learners at all developmental levels.
- Review of the NumberSense Assessment Programme (from Grade 4).
- Panel discussions:
- Grade R: Using the NumberSense Programme in Grade R.
- Friday 14:30 to 15:30 (including tea at 15:30)
- Homeschooling: Using the NumberSense Programme for teaching and learning mathematics in the home school environment.
- Saturday: 09:00 to 10:00 (including tea from 08:30)
- Learners with special needs: Does the NumberSense Programme provide a mathematics solution for learners with special needs.
- Saturday: 10:00 to 11:00 (including tea at 11:00)
- The tension between creating high quality learning environments and “covering content”.
